Did you think the chances of you walking around wearing a pair of smart glasses and pretending your in the latest sci-fi blockbuster were pretty much 0%. Well now imagine yourself wearing a SmartWig? Although production has not yet started, Sony has filed a patent application for the potential product.

In a highly competitive field, and with the popularity of items such as the glasses and watches set to rise, firms are battling it out to take the lead in this sector.

The idea is that the product will be able to process data and communicate wirelessly with external devices collecting information as you go. Potential uses range from aiding blind wearers to navigate roads, introduction into the medical sector as a means of collecting temperature, pulse and blood pressure information and presenters navigating slides through simply raising their eyebrows.

The firm stated that this Wig could be made from horse hair, human hair, wool, feathers, yak hair, buffalo hair or any kind of synthetic material. Technologically genius? Or just plain crazy?
